Team Mentors
Description and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of Team Mentors are facilitating a team of 3 girls in the investigation of a CSI-type scenario, assisting the girls in safely conducting laboratory investigations and skills with competence, helping the girls with computer tasks such as data analysis and PowerPoint presentations, assisting the staff in preparing for the next day’s activities, completing assessments and other camp paperwork, and generally helping to ensure that the girls are continuously engaged in the investigations and activities during the camp sessions.
Terms of Employment:
- Salary is $450 each session
- Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM; 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM; Saturday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Sessions: Training (July 6 – 9); Beginning Camp (July 12 – 17); Advanced Camp (July 19 – 24).
- Employees pay their travel to and from NAU
- Lunches and snacks during the camp session days are provided; room is not provided
Desired Qualifications:
- GPA of 3.0 or better
- Experience working with adolescents
- Content knowledge in the sciences, laboratory, and computer skills
- Maturity, responsibility, and creativity
Resident Advisor:
Description and Responsibilities:
Resident Advisors (RAs) are responsible for the health and safety of the girls in their charge at all times other than when the students are at camp sessions. They are to inform the girls of e-GIRLS rules and guidelines and to work to ensure that these rules are observed. RAs are also responsible for planning and conducting recreational activities.
RAs’ working hours are primarily the hours students are not participating in the camp instructional agenda activities; other commitments include a morning meeting time with the Program Director and additional time for planning and preparation of activities. RAs work weekends. Employment in e-GIRLS should be considered a full time commitment.
Terms of Employment:
- Salary is $1200 for 12 afternoons/nights on duty + 1 training day
- Sessions: Beginning Camp (Sunday, July 11, 3:00 PM – Saturday, July 17, 9:00 AM); Advanced Camp (Sunday, July 18 3:00 PM – Saturday, July 24, 9:00 AM)
- 1 full day of training (July 9) is required prior to the camps
- Work hours during camp days: 3:00 – 6:00 PM (activities & dinner); plus 8:00 PM – overnight.
- Employees pay their travel to and from N.A.U.
- Room and board are provided
